Well done, he's a beauty. Someday I'd love to have a couple of Oscars, they seem like very cool fish.

This is Kenny the kenyi. He is my favorite fish I have ever had.

That golden looks so great!!!

Yeah it's my best looking and favorite fish Ive had the marble for only about two weeks I'm hoping its coloring gets more distinct soon

I figured. It was a girl cuzit is always building nests ...how could u tell it was a girl from the pic tho...n idc if it is a girl its name is still kenny lol

It's usually a male that moves the rocks to create a smooth surface for a female to put the eggs to be fertilized. Then she will scoop them into her mouth and hold them for approx 21 days. Then she spits out 15-30 fry.
The way you can tell the difference between male and female Kenyi is that a sexually mature male Kenyi turns yellow or orange, while the females stay blue. Kenyi male and female Fry and Juveniles are the same color, blue.

There is of course an exception to this rule, like everything else. After my female has spit her fry, she guards their breeder net like a territorial male. During this time she to turns yellow. But I know she's female because she's now holding her 4th batch of fry.

Here are a couple of photos of my 1yr old male Kenyi and the one female Kenyi that keeps having fry then turning yellow while guarding them
