Taking awhile, but the koi are moved out of the 55gal and in their new 1100gal pond. I think they're lost!!! Lol. Plants come tomorrow, landscaping goes slowly between work and the pocket book.
Angels are happy to be out of the 10 gal and in the 55!!

Reyvin that looks great! Your koi look, pretty, too :)
The pond is going to look great when all the plants and landscaping are done.

Thank you! I think my koi lost some coloring in the tank. But it's looking like some of the coloring is changing.

I would love to build a koi pond in the house I'm moving into in a month..buttttt, I have no money cuz of the house so I'll have to save up. :p

I admit it was and still costing some money even though I am doing it all myself. I just put a 300 gal one in for my aunt, which was around $600 altogether, not including, fish and plants.

Looks really sweet. I envy you and your ability to do that. Makes me want a pond lol thanks for the pics. Great job and good luck

Thanks! I am loving it!! Just to sit and listen my chimes and waterfall and watch the koi.. So relaxing.

Great pics!! Are herons an issue where you live? You may want to consider netting the pond or considering some means of predator defense for your fish.

That pond looks great!! I'm starting to plan a pond that ill begin work on this fall. I need one that is smaller In area but two seperate pools. I have 4 red eared slider turtles who will need an open living space soon.

Have any tips for the planning process??

Yours looks awesome!!

Yes we get a lot of herons but none around my pond. Which is confidently located in the middle of "dog pound" aka my front yard. The lowest shelf is a minimum of 12" deep and the other apx 18"' the rest of the pond slopes from 2' (bottom of water falls), to apx 3' (under skimmer). Not worried about coons or herons. My puppy on the other hand.... :)

Tracie,

Thanks. What kind of area are you thinking?
Are you thinking 2 pools to keep the turtles separate from fish?

I've kept my cost under $2500, there are some great pond kits out there. I also had to build mine on a slope, so didn't have a lot of wiggle room on water flow, but it worked out.

'Dog pound' as in you have dogs patrolling the yard constantly? If so, you may be safe. If you don't, I strongly advise netting the pond as a precaution before you wake up one morning and every single fish is gone without a trace. The depth is actually ideal for herons- they will land right in the middle and go fishing for an easy dinner. Raccoons and other land predators wont be an issue.

Yes dog pound as I dogs live there. :). And my big guy thinks vultures are chicken on the wing... He'd think herons are turkey! He loves loves big birds. To chase and eat if possible.

Sounds good!!! Just making sure because its not a lesson you want to learn the hard way! Btw, those fake herons/owls/birds don't work at all.

Needless to say also expensive! Pretty, but that's it.
