Hi elephantnose...Beautiful tank! Yesterday I had a surprise from my Jewels as well. They're doing a pretty good job of protecting the fry right now, and I'm adding a tank separator today with plans for a nursery tank soon. I'm brand new to cichlid breeding, should I separate the male when I add the tank divider or keep him w/the fry? Would prefer it if they don't end up as little snacks!

You can leave both parents. The female will stay with the fry. The male will swim around and scare away any potential predators . They will switch jobs. They will even suck up fry and spit them out where they want them to be.
