10g breeder tank
Ok, I know, not the most interesting tank, but I've added my personal engineering touch.
Here's the tank containing 1 3 week old guppy, found while cleaning my 55, 1 mama guppy who is due anytime, and a mama molly who is gettin big.
The egg crate is to keep the 16 mo old's hand out. So far he hasn't tried anything so it's yet to be tested. He's real good at slapping the glass.
Next, mama guppy
Next, my DIY netbreeder
Wal-Mart special. 1 rubber-coated metal kitchen rack, a bag that some beach toys were in (small enough so the guppy can't get through, big enough for fry to drop), 4 plastic clothes hangers, and a bunch of zip ties, some trial and error, and presto!
Finally, netbreeder in tank. Sorry about the dirty glass...
Aint it slick? This allows my big mystery snail full access to all surfaces, and it's much bigger than the trap - which I brought over 'cause it's all slimy with good bacteria from 3 weeks in the 55. Buried the sponge in the gravel for a few days too.
If all goes well, I'll have all kinds of babies!
Not exactly sure what the Mollies will look like. It depends if she was pregnant before I bought her or after. Bought 1/2/9 so it could go either way. She's a Lyretail Orange. Teh 55 has 1 male silver (sailfin I think) and 1 female dalmation/spotted, but she's not getting very big & definitely not pregnant from what I can tell. Orangey girl got huge fast.
This is my first attempt, so wish me luck!
