Thanks, me too. My fish seem to be alot happier, too. Particularly my ghost knife.. Hes always out and about now, digging into the sand and darting in and out of the live plants I just planted!

Looks great! I love the black sand and it looks better without the blue plants. I bet that really makes the tiber barbs' orange pop out.

Thank you! I agree... I never really liked the "unnatural" colored plants... They look too out of place, particularly with the other decorations in the tank. The tiger barbs, the gold gourami, and the rainbowfish all look SO much better with the black sand then they do in the natural stone... They are looking so much healthier, too, since I added in live plants.

The substrate is actualy 40lbs of tahitian moon sand, and 20lbs of eco-complete.

Here's a picture of my 10g! Clearly I have a small diatom problem.
I would love all comments and criticism. I'm going for a relatively natural look but I feel like my tank is kind of empty, especially in the front right hand corner there. I think I need a cave or driftwood or something. Any suggestions?
And what about thoughts on an air pump?

1 Crowntail Betta
8 Neon Tetras
8-11 Ghost Shrimp
1 Apple Snail

I think some water wisteria or water sprite would look excellant growing up the corner in the front

Here's the new driftwood. I'm loving it, although I think it's time I buy some bigger plants for the background.
