I notice a lot of pictures have the copyright symbol and the photographers name, how do you do that?

I use the horizontal text option in Photoshop.
The key sequence for characters like the copyright sign can be found here: (assuming you have Windows!)
Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools > Character Map. Select the font and then double click on the copyright symbol and it will tell you what key sequence to use for that font -- look in the bottom right corner. I generally find that Alt 0169 works for most fonts. (hold down the Alt key while pressing 0169 on the number pad).
So, select the horizontal text option in Photoshop, get the symbol in, then type your name or initials. You can also select your font color in Photoshop too.
