They can get potentially close to two feet. According to live aquaria the min tank size is 50 gallons which is really small for somebody that size, granted they mostly dig underground trenches that they stay in most of the time. Jeff is actually still relatively small I have him in a 55 for now but it won't be long before I am going to have to upgrade

Those are big guys! We saw a baby at Petco and of course immediately wanted it but I had to say no and wait to research because I truly had never heard of them before. Glad we waited after I read they get about a foot long!!!
