Yes it takes great pics and it comes with its own software to record to. You can even drop it in to windows movie maker to edit if it needs it before you upload it to youtube

what about iMovie? lol. and does the software work for mac?

Go for Ubuntu. Use wine for windows apps, you'll never go back to M$.
