What's better than a Gulf Coast Pygmy Sunfish?

To collect fish? No you just need a proper fishing license if you meet the criteria. It's different in every state though, so you just have to check your local regulations.

You also need to be good at I.D.ing fish since you don't want to be taking anything endangered or restricted.


I bet there is a lot more in the creek there, it's just a matter of figuring out how to catch them.


I would put a pair or trio in a heavily planted 2.5.
 
It'd be pushing it, I really dislike using teeny tiny tanks. But space wise it would work if you had a pair of each at the most, and any fry from the least killies (they are livebearers) would likely be eaten by the elassoma.
 
I had one of the males you sent me turn really dark- basically pitch black on his whole body, accept his gill area was blue. I wonder if he "colored up"
