Yet another Polypterus picture - Aquarium Advice

Tell me when you're sick and tired of these! Here is a before and after of my PetSmart 'Dinosaur Eels' which are really Polypterus senegalus.

Here's what they looked like when I bought them:

Here's one after a little more than a month of growth:

I'm really proud of that last picture. I think it is one of the best I've ever taken.

Very nice photos, Fruitbat. I wish my ropefish would sit still long enough to have such nice pictures taken.

So how big are the little monsters now? Have the juvenile's horizontal stripes faded or is it just the different lighting between the two shots?

On a related note, I saw some stunning polypterus ornatipinnis ( http://aquaworld.netfirms.com/Other/...natipinnis.htm ) in my [acronym:80257d68a7="Local Fish Store"]lfs[/acronym:80257d68a7] this weekend for $40 each.

They have grown considerably....the largest is about 4 inches now. Yes...the striped pattern is all but gone and they've taken on typical Polypterus senegalus coloration.

Lori....you're right....next thing I know they'll be going off to college!!
