Try activating the yeast. It makes a big difference in my experience.

Seems like a lot of sugar... I always used 1 to 1.5 c for my 1 liter bottles.

Did you fill the bottles almOst to the top? The mire full the better as it means less gas has to be produced to fill the space and then inject into the tank. What are you using for diffusion?

Right, 2 cups for 2 liters.
No, they're only filled to the level that it was when there was soda in it.
My diffusion is not ideal. I'm using cheap disposable stones but they were the only ones that came in fine grit.
Ok, I'll add some more yeast and activate it 1st. If it's activated, then it should start working right away, right?
What about the bubble counter? I'm using a water bottle with tap water. How full should it be? Is tap water ok?

Tap water is fine. Leave a bit of air at the top of your yeast bottles and your separator/bubble counter. Are you getting better results yet?

I'm using a CO2 ceramic/gass diffusor. Do I still need a bubble counter?

I would recommend one. It will give you a much better idea of how much you are injecting.
