advice on cycling a new refigium?

I just built a HOB refugium from a HOB overflow trickle I used a mud substrate and was wondering if there needs to be any cycling of the fuge from the live mud before adding it to my setup. currently I have it recycling in to an old sump and it has been only one day, any Ideas on if I can just ad er on, the ph SWG and all other reading seem nominal..

I'm not that familiar with what you're describing, but if this is to be the biofilter for a tank you could test it by adding a small dose of ammonia and testing to see how fast it is removed.
