Blue LEDs

HERE'S THE REASON YOU NEED RESISTORS:

Diodes are a SHORT... If you apply 2 volts you can have 2 milliamps or 2000amps - current is only limited by resistance and the power supply.

Would you take any power wires and twist them together? No. Unless you ejoy sparks and smoke.
 
Here are day and night pics with the moonlights. The shape of the led's are strange, and if I made bigger holes with a countersink, I think I would get more light, but then it would be too bright.

I figured out what I did wrong. The cristmas lights have a cone dimple in the top to disperse light and none of it passes straight out. I cliped off the dimple, sanded, then polished the LEDs. Perfect.
