brace removal

not sure if this is the right place to ask but ill give it ago.. right i have a juwel rio125. the things is i want to upgrade my lights but smack bang in the middle of the tank is a poxy black brace that runs the width of the tank.. so my question what is it, how do i take it out, and is it ok to take it out as the light i want is a halide and the bulb is in the middle so this brace would block the light any ideas

The brace is there to keep the glass from bowing. I would not removed it.

I once had broken the brace on my 72g bowfront, I could see the front glass moving/ bowing by the day! So I had to replace the top rim. If it comes with a brace, you really should leave it...

Definate agreement on all the above! Removing the brace is an invitation for disaster.
