Can green, recently cut bamboo be put in tropical aquarium?

My dojos, rope fish and freshwater moray eel LOVE to hang out in a old piece of hollowed out bark that floats in the tank. They will all huddle around it, waiting for the one sleeping in it to leave so they can have a turn. I took some dried bamboo from my yard, cut to size so each had their own "floatie" to sleep in. They loved it! Until they soaked up enough water to sink.
Can I put fresh cut, green bamboo pieces in their for them to nap in? I don't know if the "sap" in the fresh cut would hurt them and can't find any information on it.
Any advice would be appreciated!

If the bamboo doesn't get any pesticides...

People grow bamboo in their tanks all the time so if that was the case it seems likely it is okay. You could add some corks to the bamboo to keep them floating...

Maybe let them be out in the sun to dry a a little. I had bamboo a long time ago and don't recall much in the way of sap.
