canopy and fans

I have two 110 watt bulbs in a canopy above a 55 gallon tank. Would you place a fan in between the two lights or have on each on the lights?

Also how does the fan work? do you just punch a hole in the wood and install the fan or do you make the air come in on one side and out the other side

Most people have their fans on the side or back of the canopy sucking air out--this allowscool, fresh air to flow over those how bulbs. Also, the flow rating (cfm=cubic feet per minute) should be rather high.

They have the quietest fans on the market.

What do you wire that type of fan to? I'm interested in putting a Hamilton [acronym:57a91b78c3="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:57a91b78c3] in my canopy and would like to run a couple of these in hopes that I wouldn't need a chiller.

Thanks.

It worked!

I purchased computer case cooling fans from silenx.com . They have a high airflow but are the quietest fans on the market. I then wired each to individual standard 12 volt [acronym:972b03ee62="Direct current"]DC[/acronym:972b03ee62] transformers from radio shack. They work great!
