Well I'm about 99% finished with my canopy/light hood, all that is left is picking up two 6omm fans and it's done.
I picked up one of these;

and since I really don't care for hanging the lights or all that light spilling all over I opted to make a new canopy.
I used thin plywood and pine for supports.
I also installed the CoralView 36" normal output T5 lights as well to provide light from the front so the fish are not in silhouette when the swim near the front pane;
I cut an opening in the top and silicone and screwed in a piece of Lexan for the LED unit to rest on. It sits about 3/4" below the top of the hood.
The light is about 10" from the water surface.
I used pieces of aquarium mat as bumper under and around the light.
luckily the existing screws/holes matched up perfect for the angle brackets I had. This sucker isn't going anywhere...
I ordered right and left angled power cords. Saved about 1.5" in height profile over the stock cords.
after securing the wires the way I want, this is how it looks, neat, clean and simple;
the LED layout;
and of course the full tank shot;
picked up a green-bubbletip;
and a long tentacle;
he hasn't found his "sweet-spot" yet, but the bubble tip has.
He set-up shop in what was a "bridge/swim thru" kinda thing, here is his base;
that coral/rock he is attached to is hollow and he completely disappears up inside of it when he shrivels up.
