to day i had an idea;
my tank is still cloudy from the aragonite sand i put i there 2 days ago so
i was at wally world getting some food and i thought ;

i could make a cheap diy filter to help clear the water
so i picked up a $.50 cent plastic drinking cup and some sponges (ocello)

when i got home i drilled four 7/16 " holes in the outer rim of the bottom of the cup followed by a 3/4" hole in the center

put my sponges in the bottom ,
plumbed up my mj 1000

with a litle tweaking (amt of sponge)
my little filter is working good
plenty of flow
i think i spent $3.00 on it
will see how it works overnight

Just make sure before you use any store bought sponges theat they do not have any type of fingicide on them. Most spongs you find in the store are coated to keep them "fresh" as they sit on store shevles.
