Nope, you can always get an L bracket and screw it to the wall if you're worried, I can tell you the best way to find a stud!

Little change up bro, how is this? Can I leave the back like this? The front will have more support. Basically the front will have 4 beans and the back will only have one in each corner?

I'd recommend mirroring anything you do to the front, this will ensure no odd settling or warping, I like to shim stands like that back a bit, especially if your floors arnt perfect, do you have a level? Or the app on your phone will do!

Yeah I have a level and I do use shims. Where my tank sits it only needs raised like 1/8th of an inch in the back to be 100% level. I'll keep it all the same and I'm going to HD now. Need to pick up 4 more 2x4s and I feel this thing will be 100% stable!

cool! I'd keep it just a hair leaning back toward the wall, piece of mind, keep in kind your child proofing this at the same time ;)

Think about how a bridge is constructed, picture all the diagonal bracing, this is what keeps it from wobbling, apply that same idea to this stand, vertical support is for downward/gravitational strength, diagonal bracing is for horizontal stability, a properly secured wrap will accomplish this as well.

I see I see! This is where I'm at so far. It's not screwed in yes but that's the idea

Nice bro!! Looks great!! Those 2x's look way nicer than the crap they have up my way..you dropping a piece if ply in the middle? Edit- a piece of sand paper and some stain? That thing will be furniture grade! Or.... High gloss black paint!

No I'm not putting ply down yet. I know I should but I have already spent more then I planned for just this part. 100$ so far. Will that hold for now? I'm gonna add bracing in the top frame as well

Oh man! What happened to $30?!? You counting the drill I hope, yes the X in top rectangle will replace ply just fine.

Dude it went fast. X14 2x4s x2 boxes of nails x37 cuts (8.00) and a drill

Here is where I'm at. Now I need more screws because my wife's baby shower is today so I'll be home alone to finish
