DIY aquarium cover with eggcrate

I recently got an elephant nose fish and my 55 gal top is open. I read that they love to jump out and that i should cover my tank so I went to home depot and built this one.

Parts:
- 1 sheet of EggCrate ( white plastice) $13

Tools:
- Pliers to cut out the 2 tops
- dry erase marker to make mark it out.

Its was very easy to cut it out, the plastic is very weak.

Great idea! Will the egg crate warp/melt with a light on it? Obviously with led's it shouldn't.

If you are using metal halide maybe. Otherwise they should be fine.
