DIY canopy question

So, I'm going w/ a 55gal 2x48" 110w actinics, 1 250w 14k MH mounted in the center(1 MH for now atleast, I realize the sides of the tank will be darker). Question: how high should I build the canopy b/c I don't know how far the MH should be mounted from the water surface? If water splashes a MH while the MH is on/hot they shatter right??

Mount the MH bulb at least 6 inches above the water line. Mine sits around 10 inches or so.

You don't want water to splash on the bulb. That could be very bad.
