I've tried a few different DIY setups for mine and so far the best I've come across (with the exception of an actial diffuser as there like 40 ish bucks) is how I have it setup with my powerhead

I positioned the air stone under the air pump, and it seems to be dispersing the bubbles quite well.

Mine just sprung a leak now I have no pressure I guess its time to break out the torch and screwdriver and melt the leak closed good luck with yours

If mine leaks I will just throw away the plastic bottles I used to build it and add another one.

It was the cap I used m2m fittings in them and melted them together here's a pic of it.
