DIY Eel Hideout?

So I will have a small eel in the 55g. I would like to make him a PVC hideout.
I want to take a 7-10" straight piece of PVC pipe and put some kind of sealant/adhesive on it then roll it in sand. My question is, what kind of sealant/adhesive should I use?

Aquarium-safe silicone (GE 1 clear) or epoxy, either one would work, epoxy would harden faster.

Thanks! Would they have that at a hardware store? If not Petco/Petsmart?

You can get a double syringe of 2-part epoxy anywhere, Wal-Mar should have some. You may have to go to a hardware store or Lowe's/Home Depot to find the right tube of silicone. The epoxy is storable, the tube of silicone (caulking gun tube) has to be used once it's opened, won't be any good later.

Well he is a beut! I like the pvc idea. When we bought our peacock eel, we wanted to find a type if semi-flexible piece of tubing. That way, we could curve it like under a rock and sand, but still keep its shape. It would look SO COOL if you could do this, and make it look as if the eel was popping out of the substrate from a pipe...JMO!!
