DIY Half-a-Hood
I had some time today, and some wood. So this is the outcome. I wanted a way to keep the top of my fuge covered, but open so i could fiddle around in it. Right now I still am using the screen top because the small light actually goes to my 7 minibow, which is being drilled. What I am going to do is take the 14 watt bulb which is in the hood now, and put it in the hood, and then buy a CSL 32 watt bulb for the plastic compartment type thing Get it?
To sum it up, I am keeping the black thing for the 7 bow, but using everything inside, and then putting a different light in the black thing. Then taking the existing bulb and ballast and putting it over the fuge. P.S. I found an aquarium bulb at HD today, but it puts off this nasty yellow color. It looks ok after I have a regular flo. bulb on it.

Ok, this little hood has served me very very well. I now have one 15 watt T8 bulb in it. It is entirely enclosed in the black little strip deal. Then I have the two incandescant fixture bulbs, that are flo. Each one is 19 watts, soon to be upgraded to 27. This is what I am in the process of doing to the hood. I think it will be functional and not overkill, but who knows. Here is the diagram.
