DIY over tank light

So, I decided I would like to have my tank open top (it had a crappy hood)

Didn't fancy buying a whole new light fitting as mine suits me fine (only power compact *T8)

This is built out of drain guttering (PVC) the reflector is screwed inside as usual, I cut a groove on either side of the inside, this is where the condensation "panel" clicks into, preventing water splatter on the bulb.

I cut a notch on either end so it sits into the tank, finished it off with a few end caps made from an old tank hood.

Not the best thing in the world but it looks pretty clean, does the job just fine too!

Looks good. Are you having any issues with heat? The PC's I have always have some sort of fan or ventilation on them, they get pretty hot.

Sorry, it's a 14w T8 bulb, not sure why I wrote PC! lol

Thanks, that's how I wanted it to look, just the right height but not too much, so it's nice and slim to the tank.

looks much better than a stock flourescent hood too. Do you have any pics of the materials used or a DIY walkthrough? This is a neat upgrade.
