Let the salt mix aerate overnight with a power head before using it for a partial water change (10% -20% weekly). Freshly mixed SW has not quite stabilized. Most folks say to let it mix for 24 hours before uisng it, but I find that it's stablizied (pH) and no longer caustic after 12 hours.

So mix it 24 hours prior to a water change (roughly)? I have been mixing it the day I do the change. I measure salinity of my tank before adding it, Measure what I add, measure after I add and a few hours later I do it again just to make sure it is safe and for an extra I measure it again the day after.

Yes to mixing it the day BEFORE you use it. Measure SG and Temp before use of both the tank and the pwc to make sure they match.
