filter building

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a filter that can have its carbon replaced, because it costs a lot to keep buying filters. Just buying the carbon looks a lot cheaper to do. I would like to try to use one of this filters Walmart.com: AquaTech 20/40-30/60 Filter Cartridge 6pk: Fish seance that's what I already have. I would just like to find a way to replace the carbon in this filter. Thanks

Just let the carbon in the filter pad get used up.
You can place activated carbon in some kind of netting (like a filter sock, nylon stockings, etc) and drop it in your filter

Is there a reason you want to use carbon? I only use it if I'm trying to remove tannins or medications from the water. If you're set on using it, scottayy gave you some good advice.
