for the powerhead on a river tank?

i need to hook some pvc up to my powerhead (aquaclear 30-50 or something) 1/2 inch pvc is probally the closest size to the intake of the powerhead, but it doesnt fit very well. how do you fit it?

an adpter to some flexble tubing.. the flex shoud fit easier then stiff pvc.. HTH
