Easy. Step 1. remove lid/hood

Step 2. Unscrew 4 screws holding the splash shield in place.

Step 3. Apply form fitted aluminum foil IE ghetto reflector

Step 4. Trim to fit feeding vents and screw receptacles

Step 5. reinstall splash guard and screws.

Step 6. Wonder why aqueon didn't do this in the first place and enjoy increased light from pathetic Christmas tree bulb

Took ghetto reflector out for a moment to install ghetto heat shield IE one half washed soda can beneath it. Why? Because I was bored.

Well, it's half a coke can hidden in the canopy, not an empty 40 in the substrate.

I'd call it economically depressed rather than ghetto :)

Nothing needed fixing on the real tanks lol.
I couldn't manage to trot out "economically depressed" due to the lateness of the hour rofl but well done!

Further malfeasance with the mini bow. Who says you can't have that high tech led glow. It's not much for outright illumination but does great as moonlight.

Take these LED nightlight bulbs

Carefully remove the "bulb" section leaving the 3 LEDs exposed and Viola!

Would be neat if you had a way to point them down towards the tank.

They foolishly made the assembly removable lets see now......

About 30deg angles all I can manage unless I hardwire the LEDs and forego the mount.

Ought to be like 0 electricity to run at least :)

You should post a picture of the whole tank with different lights

Disregard all previous bulb mods. Buy this bulb add reflector and be happy!

Way better than stock and way better than my underpowered mod. Just wish it came in 4700k for that bluish hue (it doesn't) iPhone cam doesn't do the brightness justice.

Nice. U could try Mylar or simplily painting light reflector bright white. White reflects light better than aluminum and most metals. Just an idea.

That's true but this thing is so bright now I've just left it alone :)

it pretty much is, i replaced my standard halogen lamp on the biorb with a 40+ LED MR16 lamp, which will last 100 times longer and run on 3w of power, i am pretty much down to just what the heater uses, cause the air pump is very low power too :brows:
