2 12 inch lights on either side of my lid of my 48" 55 gallon tank shouldn't be too much light. If it's not enought you could either put them under a reflector or build them their own.
Now remember, I'm not planning on using these to help grow coral or recreate moon light, just something to allow me to see my tank at night.
