ah cj, i thought you meant you spent 3grand on lighting :?. i have spent 600 in total on mine (had to replace the fixture once) then about another 400 on filters/skimmers/heaters ect ect. and your dead right, sw tanks do become expensive, diy projects though are a great way to reduce the cost, but still it all adds up.

live stock is where the money gose fast. i put about 1200 in hardware in my 46 reef. all new stuff but now am adding live stock. and that stuff is $$ 30 for a fish 50 for a coral. but it is so worth it.

I'm not sure if the yellow or red wire is th hot lead, but i believe that the black wire is the ground.

Actually the red is +5vdc, the yellow is +12vdc and the black is ground. You can get the powersullpy fans pretty cheap. Thanks a good idea.
