In-wall Aquarium
Hi!
I am thinking of building an in-wall aquarium. Problems: - the wall is about 10 in. thick, so the tank would have to stick out a little (2 in.) on both sides... Any ideas on what to do so that it is estetical? - how do I solve the filters, heaters, easy access... The idea is for it to look like a "live painting" from both sides, so I figure a frame would probably be the easiest way of hiding all the instalations and tank edges... Any web-links greatly appreciated! Thanx! All the best, J. |

Do you have wood trim in the room? If so I would say build a box around the oudside of the tank about flush with the glass. Then just put some trim to match the rest of the room around the tank. Be sure to screw the trim in and fill the holes with some plugs so that it is easily removeable in the future. This box would also make me feel better about you having the tank hang 2" out of the wall on each side as you could use the bottom part to support the edge of the tank.
