You have to match the bulb and ballast. Your ballast will fire a max of 80w of bulbs. 4' VHOs are 110w each.

Different question same subject!

Just bought a 65 watt coralife 50/50 CFL. Don't want to tell you what I spent on it. Anyways! This might sound funny but I have looked into some auto lights (Xenon) that are 100w each and come in 10000k and 12000k models with the same ballast. I can get them for $60 on ebay. Now if could (which I am sure I can) get an ac/dc adapter to run ac to dc 200w would this be acceptable lighting? I know this is far fetched and off the wall but I think I am trying to make this more difficult for myself and keep with the homemade concept. Something I am kinda stuck on. Would this be a feasible Idea or not? Just throwing ideas into the wind. I have plans on buying another lighting system soon. I came into alittle bit of cash.
