Make me a DIY ATO

Hey guys I've always battles evaporation in my reef. I need an easy, simple, auto top off system!

I have a shelf that is roughly 12x6 inches(eyeball measurement) I can mount above the tank if that sparks any ideas.

Here is the tank:
