Hello All -

I am planning to begin the build for a stand and canopy for a 72" X 24" X 31" (L x W x H) FOWLR tank. I've built these before for a 110H style tank and I used a lighting system with VHO Florescents. I am considering metal halide this time as I just like the way they look - here are my questions: - as I plan a closed-top type canopy - 1) how many/what type metal halides should I use? 2) What distance should they be suspended between the canopy and the tank? (I know I'll need cooling fans, etc)

' any thoughts? Thanks in advance-
Binx

3 halides over a 6" tank. They are generally good for a 2' x 2' area. You might try some LEds instead, to save on electricity. You will still have the shimmer halides produce, but not the electric bill. You can use real cheap ones since you won't be keeping any photosynthetic creatures.
