Metal halide pendant

I have a metal halide pendant from coralife (175 Watt). I need to add more wattage for my new 90 gallon tank but dont want to add another pendant. I would like to make a canopy but would I be able to cut the bulb out of the pendant and place it in the canopy along with some retrofit [acronym:ebd79dbe6f="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:ebd79dbe6f]? I have no idea if that is possible. I am on a limited budget so would like to add wattage as cheaply as possible. thanks for the help

if you want to do this cheaply, you might want to look into overdriving [acronym:3131b98aaf="Normal Output Fluorescents"]NO[/acronym:3131b98aaf] flourascent lighting. there are a few long threads on the forum. the link below has a few listed,

Well I went ahead and purchased a [acronym:2c6627894f="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:2c6627894f] retrofit coralife aqualight 4x65 watt set from captivereefs.com I also purchased a reflector for a [acronym:2c6627894f="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:2c6627894f]. I made my canopy today as well for my 90 gallon tank. Will I be able to connect the pendant light to the reflector? Also how much room should I leave between the [acronym:2c6627894f="Metal halide light"]MH[/acronym:2c6627894f] and the [acronym:2c6627894f="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:2c6627894f] lights? [acronym:2c6627894f="Thanks in Advance"]TIA[/acronym:2c6627894f]
