MH lighting question - Aquarium Advice

Can I use a lower wattage MH bulb in a 1000 Watt ballast? I had a 1000 watt MH system given to me and it is too much for my 30 gallon tank.

My guess.... Definitely not.. you will end up destroying your lower wattage bulb.

bulb needs to be matched with the ballast.

Sell that badboy on ebay and get you something that will work on your 30g...or get a tank that the 1000w will work on.
