YouTube - ‪DIY Aquarium Background‬‏ (made mine look like this)

http:////www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3NpDkogIfg&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL (all the parts)

I thought to myself, I could make one. I first helped my girlfriend make a diy yourself background for a turtle tank. Then decided to tackle mine.

I went out to Lowes and bought 1in blue styrofoam which cost about 9 dollars. I started to cut out pieces to match the second video. My advise here is to use a good serrated knife to shave off the edges of the cut pieces. (Look at the picture below) The whole struture is based off about 5 big parts to make the cementing (quikcrete drywall) and paint (drylock w/ quikcrete cement coloring) easier. I decided to use drywall because it was recommended by the guy who made the aquarium background I was following. By the way Lowes can special order you some quikcrete drywall just ask the man in charge not a sales guy. $28 dollars got me 100 lbs.

This is where I at now. Hopefully tomorrow my drywall arrives and I'll post an update to the project. I'll be cementing the seperate levels next, add color, and silicone all the parts together. Once I'm done I'll rinse the whole tank about 10 times (10 day cycle) and start my fishless cycles. I've included some pictures below to look at.

Shaved edges off.
