ANy sites with good detailed info on building sumps?

I have a 30 gallon tank on a stand and have an extra 5 gallon tank i wanted to use for the sump and dont know where to start

any info would be great thanks

jeff

You will find that a 5 gal tank will not be a good sump. It doesn't even have the room for a skimmer, heater, and return pump.

Yes i agree IMO a 5 gal tank is just way to small for a sump. A 10 gal tank is about as small as you can go and maintan functionality. By the time you account for backflow from the overflow and return lines when power goes out you will end up with maybe 2-3 gal of water in the sump and with the average of 1/2 gal to 1gal per day of evaporation your going to need to invest in a autotopoff or be very relegious about adding topoff water every day.

sorry my falut i meant to say i have a 10 gallon tank extra would that be a good size for a 30 long tank? and anyinfo on building it?
