Hello,
I am probably going to build this overflow, as it seems to work very well for those that do it properly, and I was wondering if anybody on here has built it? My main question is whether or not the two bottom loops need to go all the way to the bottom of the tank? I thought that as long as they were equal lengths then it doesn't matter how long they are. Does this make sense? or is there another reason that they need to go to the bottom of the tank?

Good luck. I would never trust that contraption. I guess if your not worried about a flood, go for it.

It seems unnecessarily large and complicated. Melev's Reef has plans for an acrylic DIY overflow. You could use his basic flow model and construct one out of PVC.
