Plumbing help please

A friend gave me a 125 gallon aquarium. It has four holes drilled in the bottom of it. Each hole is 1 1/4" diameter so it can only take a half inch bulkhead. Can I get away with using half inch bulkheads for my overflow?

I thought about using half inch bulkheads but increasing pipe size to 3/4" or 1".

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Increasing the pipe size won't increase flow if you have 1/2" bulkheads - the 1/2" bulkheads will determine the flow rate.

Each 1/2" bulkhead is only going to flow 80-100 gph at most...

Ok. Thanks. I guess I should just cover them up and try a overflow box
