What is safe to use in the aquarium to attach PVC pieces together?

I really don't have the answer, but most people that make external CO2 reactors just use common PVC cement. I don't think you will have a problem as long as you let it dry completly.

I just built one tonight all i used was PVC cement as long as it cures all the way before you use it it should be ok.
Its not going to be under high pressure so dont need to go to heavy on the glue tho when sticking the pices together
give them a twist for pices that u need to have lined up give them a quick twist the glue is nothing but a weld melts the 2 together thus the reason for the twist it makes them fuse together and shouldent have any leaks

*EDIT* just remembered the new houses i did HVAC in the plumbers used
CPVC on the hot and cold lines and the glue is roughly the same
and we use the water that comes from that plumbing to drink and "fill tanks"

HTH
