Quick and dirty HOB filter flow diverter

my tank houses a couple of Newts and a small Bichir, so the water level on my tank hangs about 3 inches from the top for obvious reasons. the problem with that is that the agitation of the water causes bubbles, most likely from DOC (dissolved Organic Compounds). i wanted a way to diver the flow so it wpouldnt produce the bubbles as much, to keep the plants from being beaten down, and to move the water to other areas of the tank as well

Heres the before:

i had a broken tube from a python, so i cut it in half, and added some suction cups with a couple of cable ties:

Now here is the AFTER:

and some closeups...

less bubbles, and my plants are free to grow tall!

Great idea, simple and effective. I could use a couple of those myself.

Mine is a bit different and more simple... it works, but it gets very "trickly" when the water level drops. I take a piece of airline tubing, and cut a length of each individual overflow. I cut a slit into it straight across, then stick that on the overflow lip or whatever.

Also,,,.... Clean up your filter!!
