If you are going to cycle the tank anyway can't you just use tap water for the first fill? If you are going to be putting stuff in from an existing tank then I can see the need for the RO/DI.

i currently have a 55 gallon tank thats established with 60 gallons of live rock..... about a month ago i added about a 100 pounds of baserock to get seeded.... so its all gonna be transfered just across the room.
i added 2 fans inside the tank to keep air circulating..... im gonna start filling it on tuesday most likely
