Me and my girlfriend managed to get the last two layers of cement done today. Luckily I bought cement that dries in 15 minutes! Done with all that. Now on to the next step. Painting. An interesting point about the paint I use has been Raised. I really hope someone can help me. Has anyone used paint in the aquarium? I need aquarium safe and durable paint that will last more then just a year. Anyone please??

you should look in to quickrete cement dyes, they mix in with the cement and are safe for your tank as far as i know. i made a 3d background with my sandfall that i am still tweaking and used the dyes, i should have fish in there within the next week.

The dyes can be purchased at home depot/lowes for around $5

Thanks. Forget to mention, I'm just going to bring it into my dads body shop Monday. He's going to spray it down in two-part epoxy which will make it instantly safe. Thanks for the recommendation though, will post pics of my paint job later. Mind posting a pic of your backround ?

Looking good. I am planning on making a sand waterfall for my 55 gallon and my cichlid tank.

This sounds cool. I've seen a few videos of sand falls but that's all. It looks especially good when there are plants below the sand IMO.

Good luck!

Looks great! Wish I had the space for one. It's going to look awesome! What fish are in the aquarium?

You could probably fit one in the 16 gallon. Here is a link that might help: http://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=y-NxXxdRFog

And that's the paint job. Getting it aquarium safe tomorrow, then on Tuesday will be setting it in the tank with silicon. Then waiting 48 hours for both the epoxy and silicon to fully cure. Starting cycling by putting my filter on a tank I am currently running so should spead up the process😄
