Short guide on cheap lighting!

Heres how to make yourself a cheap, but working light for your tank.

1) cut out a square on your lid, or make a new lid to cut a square in
2) make a box wich will go on top of the square you cut out, and make sure the box dose not have a top and bottom
3) once you checked it will fit, put Aliminum Foil (Tin Foil) all around the side of the box
4) Put a lap head in the top of the box
5) Tada!! Turn it on.

One thing I would suggest is NOT to use aluminum foil. It has poor reflective quality. I read somewhere that painting the reflector white actually reflect more light than the foil.

A better cheap option is to use mylar mirror film, available in craft or auto supply store. Of course nothing would beat a polished aluminum parabolic mirror ....

aluminum foil will also turn brown if it gets hot im pretty sure, you can buy reflective paint that would be a much better option, or the mirror film like jsoong suggested
