I just acquired a 40g sump for my 135g salt water tank. I'm going to plumb it using sch40 1" PVC. I am wondering if I could just use primer and red hot glue? Or do I have to use some sort of aquarium safe glue? My dt is already set up, do I need to run water through plumbing before installing it?

You can use Christy's red hot glue for your pvc pipe. It's completely aquarium safe once it cures in about 5 minutes. I use it all the time for my piping. You can start running it on within a few minutes of applying. No need to use primer.
