terrace build question

I'm going to build a terrace in my new 50 gal. saltwater tank. A thought I had was to line the area behind the terrace wall with plastic wrap before adding gravel. I'm thinking the plastic wrap will hold the gravel in place and keep it from finding its way out when cleaning the tank.

Is plastic wrap safe over the long haul ? I wouldn't want to break down the terrace in the future. What are your thoughts?

Although it seemed like a good idea after I thought about it I envisioned sucking it up with the siphon and making a terrible mess. Thanks for your input. I'll try something else.
