I'm intending on making the tank myself, all but the front will be made of plexi-glass (perspex). Does the front need to be glass? Or would plastic be ample?
I can't really add to the TV/Tank talk...but I can tel you, for sure it's either all acrylic or it's all glass. To my knowledge there is not a product out there that makes a good bond to both. The WeldOn products don't work on Glass and Silicone cement doesn't work very well with acrylic. To answer the question the plastic (acrylic) would be fine.

The info on construction can be found on my personal website

eightball, take a look at the links above. They are on my personal website and I am sure you found them in your search for info but just incase I will link them again for you. As Kevin said using glass and acrlic or plexiglass will give you a challenge on how to properly bond the two different types of materals. Select the one you feel best working with and use it for the entire tank.

My tanks where done with stock 20gal aquariums that I purchased at the local LFS so I did not have to custom buld a tank to fit but If I did then it would have been a bit easier. With using a stock tank you have to some times rase and brace the tank so it fits in the picture tube window.

Please post photos when you have finished your project.

My TV Tank

Hi guys..here are pics of my TV tank. 10 gallon Freshwater. I basically took an old tv, rebuilt a cabinet and just used the front and legs from the old one. I needed to build a custom tank to fi the screen nicely.
