Want to build 33 Gallon Long Tank

I would really like to build my own 33G Long tank (48"x13"x12") but had a few questions beforehand.

1. Would I be better off purchasing the already built tank at my LFS for $79 or could I save money with this project?

2. Where is a good place to buy cheap glass that will also cut it to size for me? Im looking for the cheapest possible material that would be acceptable for this type of aquarium. Will this cost me more than $79? I live in the DC area

I think you would be much better off cost and effort wise getting a deal on Craigslist. It would not be unusual to find a 55 gallon setup with filter and all you need with stand for less than 79 bucks.
